As a Power BI Pro user can I share a report for users in my organization who don't have pro?

Hi,

I'm currently a free user who has embedded a report into a SharePoint page and shared it with my team. They have requested access to view the report but it is telling me that I need Power BI Pro. Would it be just me that will need to buy Pro or will the rest of my team need to buy it too?

Thanks,

Drew

If the report is in a Power BI Pro workspace, then yes, all viewers need the Pro license to see it. If it were in a Power BI Premium Per User workspace, then every viewer would need that too.

If it were in a Power BI Premium capacity, then everyone would need a "Power BI Free" license. So no matter what, the viewers need a license, it just depends is it $10, $20, or free as part of the company Premium license.

When sharing reports via SharePoint, a number of things have to exist for the user to see it:

  1. Permission to the SharePoint site
  2. Permission to view the report (via the workspace or preferably the Power BI App for the workspace)
  3. A license for the workspace type the report/dataset is in.

Thank you for your quick responce.

Just to clarify, as the rest of my team have access to the SharePoint site, then the only thing that I would need to  get is the Power BI Premium for myself?

Maybe. Power BI Premium starts at $4,995 per month and is an org license. If you want to get that then yes, they would just need Power BI Free license once you move that workspace to the Premium capacity.

But if you stay as Power BI Pro or Power BI Premium Per User ($10/$20 respectively) then the end users need the same licenses to see those reports.
