Am getting the above error even though I verified my data source credentials and my Power BI gateway(personal mode) is active. The connection is made to sharepoint and through Power BI Desktop version I can refresh and publish the data. However through Power BI service if I do I get the above error. Please help
Data source credentials is verified. One thing I dont understand is if my data source files are in Sharepoint why Power BI demands a Gateway connection ?
Hi, @Anonymous
It is difficult to determine what caused the failure of the data refresh.
Try to update your credentials in the Power BI service, select the gear icon and select Settings > Datasets. Find the dataset in question, and select Data source credentials.

I got the same error and your suggestion seems to solve my problem (haven't tested it yet). All my refreshes got a credential error.
I experiened my issue after updating the personal gateway from a version of last year to one of this year (which required the removal of the old one and reinstall of the new one as the prior wasn't willing to simply update with the new one).
Suppose the odd one in this is that if Power BI Service indicates at Data Source Credentials there's an issue, why does it let it run in the first place? Why not disable it straight away (not expecting an answer, presume simply being a "bug"/ oversight)? That would be the expected behavior.
