Alert not triggered with data changes

Hi everyone! I have Created a dashboard and I have a card that shows number of rows in a table. This table should have 0 rows so I set an alert to trigger when this value is more than 0 and the dataset is scheduled to refresh every 24 hours.

now if there is a problem and it is solved and before refresh, another row comes up, the card shows 1 but it's not the same. However powerbi assumes the data has not changed and the alert won't be triggered. Is there any workaround other than refreshing the dataset more often?

Hi @Meysam ,

Please check if the setting of alert hit any of following limitations:

  • Alerts only work with numeric data types.
  • Alerts only work on refreshed data. They don't work on static data. Most of the samples supplied by Microsoft are static. Alerts are only send if the data changes.
  • Alerts only work on streaming datasets if you build a KPI, card, or gauge report visual and then pin that visual to the dashboard.
  • The ability to receive and view shared content requires a Power BI Pro or Premium license.
