Adjust role to publish to web

Hello everyone,

I recently acquired a license for Power BI, I thought that would allow me to publish reports to the web. When I tried to publish a report I got a message telling me to contact the administrator to enable my account for the generation of the required code.

I'm owner of the license so I looked into the Microsoft 365 admin center to manage users' roles and it won't let me assign myself to be the Power BI administrator.

Thanks in advance for any help

Hi @Galoyol84,

that means you don't have the rights to do that. You will have to ask your (Global) O365 Admin to assign that role, or ask wether the current Power BI Service Administrator can enable Publish to Web.

You can do this in the Tenant settings of the Admin Portal.

But please be adviced that this can have serious data or privacy issues, because there's no authentication at all to see your data.
