Hi Team,
I am using Power BI Desktop 2.149.1429.0 (64-bit) (November 2025).
When I go to Get Data → MySQL database, Power BI shows the message:
"This connector requires one or more additional components to be installed before it can be used."
I have already installed the following components (all 64-bit😞
MySQL Connector/NET 9.1.0
MySQL Connector/ODBC 9.3 (64-bit)
MySQL Workbench 8.0 CE
However, Power BI still shows the same message and does not detect the required components.
Request:
Can you confirm which MySQL driver versions are officially supported by Power BI Desktop for the native MySQL connector?
Last Known Good Version is 8.0.28
Hi @IICL
Thank you for contacting the Microsoft Fabric community forum.
In Power BI Desktop, the built-in MySQL connector is compatible only with MySQL Connector/NET for .NET Framework, specifically the 8.0.x (64-bit) versions. The newer 9.x versions of Connector/NET and MySQL ODBC are not recognized because they do not include the required .NET Framework provider. If you have the 9.x drivers installed, Power BI will display a message indicating that additional components are needed. To resolve this, uninstall all 9.x MySQL drivers and install MySQL Connector/NET 8.0.36 (64-bit). Once you restart Power BI Desktop, the connector should work as intended.

I hope this helps. If you have more questions, feel free to ask and we’ll be glad to assist further.
Best regards,
Microsoft Fabric Community Support Team.
