Setting up new Power BI server
When I enter my credentials on the data source for a report I'm getting the error:
The report server couldn't connect to the data source using the information you entered. Make sure you've entered the connection string and any credentials correctly.
Connection request timed out"
It works fine in desktop with the same credentials.
I did install the 64 bit Oracle data connectors on the server but don't know how to test if it was successful. Also updated tnsnames file with the version we use for everything else.
Connection string is the standard:
data source=instance_name;persist security info=True

If you are using "Oracle Database" connector, which using ODP.NET part of Oracle Data Access Conectors, check if you have set OS level enviroment "TNS_ADMIN" pointing to folder where you have stored tnsnames.ora.
You can also install Power BI Desktop RS on server where you have installed Power BI Report Server, and check if problem is between Server and Desktop installation, or it this machine level issue.

I did have to add tns_admin manually and got it connected. Thanks!
use SQLPlus to test the connection.
What do you mean by Power BI Server ? Report Server or Gateway?
Strangely enough after adding tns_admin env variable it didn't work until I connected once via sqlplus. Now working, thanks for the help. Was for Power BI Server
