Power BI Desktop -Problem With Webview 2

I am using an MSI laptop with an AMD Ryzen 5 7000 Series processor and 16 GB of RAM. Over the past week, I have been experiencing issues with Power BI. When I open two or more PBIX files, the application crashes, and occasionally it throws an out-of-memory error. ATF for your reference.

Hi @Devaraj0901,
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Fabric Community Forum and sharing the details and screenshot.

This error occurs when the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime component used by Power BI Desktop becomes corrupted, outdated, or unable to allocate sufficient memory, especially when opening multiple PBIX files simultaneously. Since Power BI relies on WebView2 to render its interface and visuals, any instability in this component can result in crashes or out-of-memory errors.

To resolve this issue, please repair or reinstall the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime, update Power BI Desktop to the latest version, and clear the local Power BI cache folders. Additionally, increasing your system virtual memory and disabling hardware acceleration in Power BI Desktop can significantly improve stability, particularly on AMD Ryzen systems. These steps have resolved similar cases reported by other users. After completing these actions, please restart your system and verify if the issue persists.

If the issue still occurs only when opening multiple PBIX files, try disabling Hardware Acceleration (Options → Global → Display) and ensure Windows and graphics drivers are fully updated.

it's likely a regression in the current Power BI Desktop release. In that case, collect the Frown snapshot and logs and open a support ticket with Microsoft or temporarily use a previous stable version of Power BI Desktop.

Hi @Devaraj0901 ,

This issue can occur immediately following automatic updates the Webview 2 components on Windows. if you are experiencing these errors frequently (as some have with the latest update), you may want to manually install a stable version of Webview 2, as documented on this page:

https://www.sqlbi.com/blog/marco/2026/01/24/fixing-the-black-icons-issue-in-power-bi-desktop-underst...

After that, monitor for out of memory errors. Hopefully a stable install will resolve those issues as well.
