Salesforce Report Problem with lastest Power BI Update

Hi,

 

I'm having an issue importing 3 salesforce reports into Power BI. Here are a few things to note:

- problem started after I did a Power BI update a couple of weeks ago

- I've been using these 3 salesforce reports to generate a dashboard for the last year with no problems

- the salesforce report is pulling the right data. Verified by downloading the data into an excel file

- power bi seems to be bringing in the wrong data and am not sure why

- I also get the following error when importing data for one of the 3 reports

OLE DB or ODBC error: Type mismatch. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80020005 (DISP_E_TYPEMISMATCH)).
 
Any ideas on what might be causing this problem?

    Hi, were you able to find a solution? As a workaround, maybe you can try to test your connection with a 3rd party connector. I've tried windsor.ai, supermetrics and funnel.io. I stayed with windsor because it is much cheaper so just to let you know other options. In case you wonder, to make the connection first search for the Salesforce connector in the data sources list:

     

     

    After that, just grant access to your Salesforce account using your credentials, then on preview and destination page you will see a preview of your Salesforce fields:

     

     

    There just select the fields you need. It is also compatible with custom fields and custom objects, so you'll be able to export them through windsor.  Finally, just select PBI as your data destination and finally just copy and paste the url on PBI --> Get Data --> Web --> Paste the url.

    Hello,

     

    Since the Salesforce reports still export correctly from Salesforce, I would not start with credentials. This looks more like a Power BI connector, report metadata, or type detection issue after the update.

     

    I would check:

    1. Whether you are using Power BI Desktop optimized for Power BI Report Server, not the regular Desktop build.

    2. Which exact Power BI version last worked, then test the same PBIX there if possible.

    3. Salesforce formula, date, currency, percent, or picklist fields that may now be inferred differently.

    4. Power Query steps such as Changed Type, Renamed Columns, Removed Columns, or Reordered Columns.

    5. Whether a copied Salesforce report with only a few simple fields imports correctly.

    If the native Salesforce Reports path keeps behaving differently after the update, another option is to prepare the Salesforce data before it reaches Power BI.
