Direct Query from SQL Server Data Source on October Release of Report Server

Trying a direct query mode report from a browser render using a sql server data source gets the error "We couldn't connect to the Analysis Services server. Make sure you've entered the connection string correctly.".

This worked, it was losing credentials.

I am facing the same while using Excel as a Datasource with Import on Power BI Report Server. Again it is not everytime but its intermittent 

Any pointers will be helpfull.
