extracting names in Power Query

Having problems when trying to extract names from a record in Power Bi. When I expand the table it just sits stating "loading column names" and never populates. This is a very big file and I expect it to take some time but it has sat for house with no response.

Hi @kshotts ,

Does such scenario still exist? I think it may be caused by the large size of you big file, I'd suggest you optimize the data model and clear the cache of Power BI Desktop.

There are eight different data reduction techniques covered in this article. These techniques include:

• Remove unnecessary columns
• Remove unnecessary rows
• Group by and summarize
• Optimize column data types
• Preference for custom columns
• Disable Power Query query load
• Disable auto date/time
• Switch to Mixed mode

Try following - File - Options & settings - Options - Current File - Data load -Uncheck "Allow data previews to download in the background"
