hello im looking at these two articles
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-dataflows-overview
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-real-time-streaming
and im trying to understand would be the advantages/disadvantages of using one method over the other
both articles seem to being saying that they both do the same - are they?
but thats also bc im not as familiar with the azure and its data services
would someone mind breaking down the basic diffs and in which scenario you would use one over the other?
i also read this post and didnt get much more clarification
https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Service/Dataflow-vs-Dataset-refresh/m-p/572076#M57973
thx so much

Hi @toy
Some summary as below, hope it helps
index | function/features | push dataset refreshes | dataflow |
1 | stream data and update dashboards in real-time | Y | N |
2 | support to connect to real-time datasets | Y | N |
3 | connect to push or streaming datasets in Power BI Desktop | N | N |
4 | extend the Common Data Model (CDM) | N | Y |
5 | leverage powerful Azure products | N | Y |
6 | use dataflow in Power BI Desktop | N | Y |
7 | Use Power Query Online | N | Y |
In addition, this third part article1 and article 2 introduce dataflow more clearly.
Best Regards
