Hi,
I have a number of users that are having trouble loading data and having it appear in the Datasets. They click the + symbol next to Datasets and select the file (they have tried both .xlsx and .csv with the same result) and they [sometimes] get the Loading Data dialog and then it goes away and nothing appears in the Datasets. There is NO ERROR. It just NEVER appears.
Note: This is within the My Workspaces, using the Get Data > Local Files loader tool.

Hi,
We were able to figure out the issue. There wasn't really an issue in the first place, just that PowerBI doesn't inform the user enough that is wasn't able to find data.
Solution: The user wasn't defining the data as a Table within Excel. So, PowerBI must not have been able to locate any data to import. Once we selected the data and choose Define as Table, Saved It and Uploaded it to the Data Set in PowerBI the data appeared right away.

Same problem here, but trying to connect to Azure Enterprise Service but this fails.
This was working fine yesterday but I placed it in the wrong workgroup space so deleted and now trying to add again but fails 😞
This now appears to be working
That's a tough one, I suppose it could be a myriad of things like browser version, format of the file, OS version. Does it always happen with those particular users or is it hit or miss? Is the file truly local and not on a network drive or something? You could try having them click the smiley icon to "send a frown", support may have better luck in figuring out what is going on.
Hi,
I, too, figured it might be a browser issue or file issue. So, I tried the following to no avail:
None of these worked on.
NOTE: I can still upload the same file without issue to both My Workspaces and a Group that I am member of.

Good idea. I will try that and let you know how that turns out.
I'm having the VERY same issue. Cannot upload data (Local Data), no Excel File. Tried with Chrome 47.0.2526.111 and Explorer 11.0.96000.1814. Will try Mozilla.
Any suggestions?
P.s. No problems uploading the dataset when Uploading the whole report through PBI Desktop.
Hi,
I haven't been able to find a solution yet. But, I also haven't tried uploading on my machine as one of the users that is having the trouble. I expect to try this afternoon.
