Hi,
When using ODBC connector (with Hortonworks Hive ODBC DSN), one can opionally input a SQL statement.
For the new Hive LLAP connnector (generally available since November 2020), there isn't an option to input a SQL statement (for import mode).
(As a comparison, the SQL server database connector allows us to input a SQL statement.)
I'd like to know if there is a plan to add SQL statement (optionnal, requires database) to the Hive LLAP connector.
Thanks,
Acan

Hi, @acan107
I haven't found there is a plan to add SQL statement to the Hive LLAP connector. I'd like to suggest you post a new idea in Idea Forum and add your comments there to improve Power BI for making this feature coming sooner.
Best Regards
Allan

Hi Acan,
are you able to connect from Power BI Desktop to Hive using Power BI's Hive LLAP connector and direct query mode?
I am trying this now but without success, but standard ODBC connection works fine (import mode only)
We have
Power BI Desktop optimised for Reportserver (January 2021)
Hive3 on Cloudera CDP Private Cloud Base 7.1.5
Authentication via Kerberos
thanks,
Gü
