When Exporting, now makes you Save As instead of just opening in excel. - Google Chrome

hello all, and thank you in advance.  Recently when Exporting data, I noticed that it now makes you "Save As" instead of just opening in excel.

This only happens in Chrome and does not happen in Edge.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Matt

@mquintero,

This issue is related to settings pof Chrome. Please follow the steps to solve this issue.

1.Go to Settings->Advanced Settings->Downloads in chrome, disable "Ask where to save each file before downloading" option.

2. After you export data in chrome, enable "Always open files of this type" of the file as shown in the following screenshot, this way, the second option in the above first image will appear . And next time, when you use export data option in Power BI Service, chrome will automatically open the excel/csv file.

Lydia:

Thank you very much for the information, however it is still not letting the file just open.  I tried it several times, closed and reopened Chrome and it still doesn't work.

Any other thoughts?

@mquintero,

My Chrome version is Version 66.0.3359.139. In your scenario, I would recommend you uninstall chrome and re-install chrome.

Just doubled checked, my version is 66.0.3359.139.   It's strange because it used to work, and then stopped, and still doesn't work.

@mquintero,

Have you re-installed Chrome and rebooted machine?

Regards,
Lydia
