Hi.
I recently updated Power BI Desktop. I noticed diffrent behaviour when i connect to web datasource in Power Query. Namely, when first connect to web datasource, Power Query automatically add addtitional transformation steps (convert to table, expantd records, changes types of columns,...). With the older version of the Power BI desktop, only one step was created on the first connection to the web data source.
Is there any setting in Power BI Desktop that would disable the automatic creation of transformation steps after the first connection to web data source?

I don't believe so. You can try the Type Detection setting in the Global/Data Load area. But MS redid the web connector a year or so ago. You can always delete the steps you don't want, but the goal was to make it at intuitive and easy for the average user so less embedded things for most people to deal with (embedded tables, lists, etc)
DAX is for Analysis. Power Query is for Data Modeling

Hm, Type Detection settings only remove "Change Type" steps.
In my case, I am using web access to REST API from Jira. When i first connect to some API, i get, for example, 40 steps of expanded actions. So, it gives me all the data from the API, which I don't want. I need to limit the data set because I don't need all the data from API. I also have preformance problems if I use all the transformation steps and data and eventually kill Jira server.
Yes, i can delete additional steps or open blank query and write some M code in it to avoit this situations, but this is not practical. The problem is that I don’t know all the data returned by the API, so I need to research step by step which data to use. In this case, i must delete all the additional steps and begin with custom steps to research the data.
Ok, this is not a disaster, but it would be much better if there was a possibility to turn off/on this feature in Power BI Desktop (Dataflow). I hope MS will fix this in the future.
