Update existing table and keep all data in report

Hi all Experts 😀

my problem ist the following one: I want to scrap some data from a table, e. g. website etc., and add these rows to the existing table in Power Bi. So for example I open my report on Monday and refrersh the data of table 1.

Monday:

dateText

02.01.2022house
01.01.2022mouse

On Thuesday (03.01.2022) there is a new new rows in the existing table (dog). Now my table at the report should be like that:

dateText
03.01.2022dog
02.01.2022house
01.01.2022mouse

But for my report I need all rows not only the e.g. first two ones. (That is the way I have at least understand how incremental loading is working, if it is wrong please correct me). Is there a possibility to do this in that way? I can't load the whole table on the second day, because after a few days the last rows in the source are overwritten. But I need the hole table over the time...

after few days:

dateText
09.02.2022rabbit
08.02.2022snake
07.02.2022bird

(The workaround by Power automate is possible, but maybe there is another option direct in Power BI without python, script or something like that 😥)

Thanks a lot

  • Power BI has no memory, and no concept of global variables/adding rows. You need to do that in the upstream system.

lbendlin: Thank you for your answer.
What do you mean with "upstream system" respective which possibilities do you know?

Upstream means before Power BI. This could be the data source itself. Or some intermediate system like Power Automate that can implement the required process.
