I need to connect from power bi to blob storage and bring zipped files protected with passwords.
on the other side, I have the same type of files but in xls format. the final output is to combine all files after unzipping them into one fact table.
can anyone support suggesting the M code or the approach walkthrough
Hi @Khalefa,
To connect to Blob Storage from Power BI, you can use the "Get Data" option and select "Azure Blob Storage" as the data source. Once you have connected to your Blob Storage account, you can select the folder where your zipped files are located.
To bring in zipped files that are password protected, you will need to use a third-party tool to unzip them. One such tool is 7-Zip, which has a command-line interface that you can use within Power BI's "Power Query Editor".
Once you have extracted the files, you can use the "Excel.Workbook" function to read in the XLS files and then use Power Query to combine them into one fact table.
Finally, you can combine all of the XLS files into one fact table using the "Append Queries" function in Power Query. To do this, select the "FactTable" column from each of the XLS files and then use the "Append Queries" function to combine them.
Best regards,
Isaac Chavarria

I think your out of luck unfortunatly. While there is custom M code for unziping a file, it doesn't work for many kinds of zip files. I am unaware of any M code that does this today.
