Dears,
I'm struggling for a while with this one.
I already watched numerous youtube videos and read multiple blogs but nothing worked so I hope someone can help me with this.
I would like to unzip extracted reports from Oracle in Power query.
For one report my unzip function worked. But for another report I'm struggling with the format. Everytime I try to complete the unzip I get the following error 'We didn't recognize the format of your first file (). Please filter the list of files so it contains only supported types (Text, CSV, Excel workbooks, etc.) and try again'
Can someone help me with this? For all other reports I was able to unzip them in Power query.
ZIP files come in different formats, sizes, and number of children. What's the difference in characteristics for your ZIP files? More than 2GB? More than a single file? Directory only at the beginning or also at the end?
All zip files contain 1 XLS file and the size varies. Maybe the ZIP files are too large?
I also get the following message when I try to open them (but when I click 'yes' the XLS file opens without errors):
No, these files are tiny, the limit is 2GB.
Are these files Text/CSV with the wrong extension?
If I check the properties of these files it says excel workbook:
Yet Excel complains - do you have a HEX editor that you could use to peek at the bytes?
Hi Ibendlin,
Unfortunately not. I hoped we would be able to solve this using the unzip formula in Power Query.
Kr,
Julie
