Hi,
I am not able to connect to a local SQL server through Power Bi. I am using MySQL Workbench as server manager. I tried using "localhost", "127.0.0.1:3306", "Local instance MySQL80" or the host name that can be found under MySQL Workbench > Administration > Host as server names, but there is no way I am able to connect to the server. I either get Error State 18, Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 or some other similar errors. The Power Bi tutorials and other similar posts on this forum unfortunately weren't helpful: rather than an actual problem, I am afraid I am missing something here.
I was previously able to connect when I was using MS SQL Server Management Studio as a server manager, but then I had to switch to MySQL Workbench (still not really familiar with it) and since then I wasn't able to connect successfully.

Best regards,
Make certain that you are using the MySQL connector and not the SQL Connector because the error you are getting is a SQL Server error so...
