Exporting to Excel

I'm experiencing issues trying to export 149,000 records (below the 150,000 limit) from Power BI to excel.  Of the 149,000 records I'm getting only 4,600 records in the excel file.

I'm unable to identify any particular records not being included in the export.

Any suggestions?

Hi @Martin_Lanyon ,

What kind of export you are using, summarize or underlying? Does there any filter or slicer applied in the page or synced from other page? What is the storage mode you are using? Please also consider the limitation mentioned in this document

When using DirectQuery, the maximum amount of data that Power BI can export is 16-MB uncompressed data. An unintended result may be that you export less than the maximum number of rows of 150,000. This is likely if:

  • There are many columns.

  • There's data that is difficult to compress.

  • Other factors are at play that increase file size and decrease the number of rows Power BI can export.

I'm trying to export the summarized data which has 13 columns.  There is a filter to limit the data to less than 150,000 lines.  The storage mode is Import.

The total data export would not be greater than 16-MB limit.

Any suggestions?

Hi @Martin_Lanyon ,

The 16-MB only limited when use DirectQuery Mode, no worry to care about it if you using Import Mode.

We test with a simple sample, and we export 149krows(summarized, with 298k in raw) successfully, then we export 298k summarized rows, it only contain 150k.

What is the way you determine the row counts in table visual? please check the fields that set as "Do not summarized", the row number will less than the distinctcount of all those colums( such as the other value are blank, this row will not included), Have there any RLS rules applied when view the report?

By the way, PBIX file as attached.
