SSAS Multidimensional - Sql version workaround

Hello,

We deliver ready to use cube for SME market based on ERP, actually we use it through excel. When we saw powerbi we thought it will be a great opportunity.

Unfortunately the standard version of SQL doesn't allow the connection through the enterprise gateway.

Someone founded a workaround too make it pricely competive? Going through excel ? I was thinking also using a datawarehouse on Azure but the cost for my customer would be also too high.

Or will it be possible one day with the standard ?

There was an announcement somewhere that the Enterprise Gateway will be extended to allow scheduled refresh of multidimensional SSAS.Till then our workaround is to use the personal gateway. Of course, it is annoying that it is not a service, but we couldn't think of anything smarter.
