Row totals not matching

i have a measure that is displayed in a matrix.

Monthly Actual = IF (ISBLANK([TotalPrincipalReceived]),SUM(LoanTransactions[SumLoanTransBalanceChange]),[TotalPrincipalReceived])

The data shows perfectly fine, but the row total is only displaying the value for [TotalPrincipalReceived].  And not the total of every row.  Is there a way to remedy this?  The [TotalPrincipalReceived] is from a different table.  And i cannot merge it with LoanTransactions.

Thank you
Glen

This looks like a measure totals problem. Very common. See my post about it here: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/DAX-Commands-and-Tips/Dealing-with-Measure-Totals/td-p/63376

Also, this Quick Measure, Measure Totals, The Final Word should get you what you need:

Wow @Greg_Deckler ,

I don't know how you came up with that solution.  I did not even know how it works yet.  I just followed the measures and boom my totals were correct now!

Thank you again for your very quick response.  Now i need to go back in and understand what is really happening in your measure :).

The simple version is, it recreates your table visualization summarized in exactly the same way but as a table variable in memory. Then you just SUMX across that table. Took years of pain and suffering with measure totals before I finally came up with a generic solution that tends to work in nearly all cases.
