I have a report that is using DirectQuery. I have gone through "Edit Queries" and was able to create a column that lists the current date. Then I use a conditional column that compares a due date to today's date. If the due date is before today, it is classifed as Late. So when I came in on Monday morning I expected to see the dashboard automatically updated so that the data would be up to date, and the orders from Friday would be labeled as Late. The data was updated, but the Friday orders did not move to the late classification on my chart. I went into Edit Queries, and to my suprise, it did list the orders from Friday as Late.
So my main question is, how does the query update the data from SQL, but it doesn't update the information resident within the query itself?
@Tapco_AV,
Do you refresh the report in Power BI Service or Power BI Desktop? When refreshing the report in Power BI Service, Power BI directly get updated data from SQL Server after you add the SQL data source within gateway. When refreshing the report in Power BI Desktop, you would need to click "Refresh" button to get updated data.
If you still have questions about the refresh, please help to post screenshots about your scenario.
Regards,
Lydia
