Refreshing Certain Data Sets

I have about 25 excel spread sheets at about 1.2 MB each loaded into my power bi file. A new one is created just about every week. The tables in excel have different values every 15 seconds for about 3 days (10 to 20,000 rows). Each of these spread sheets are appended to one query in order to compare batches on the same line graph. Everytime I refresh my data sets it takes 30-45 minutes. Generally when I refresh I only change or add a few things to 1 of these 25 spread sheets and the rest stay constant.  Is there any way to refresh certain datasets?

Or is the only fix to reduce the amount of rows in each of these tables in the excel tables before adding them to power bi?

@atisenbe,

Based on your description, you refresh the data in Power BI Desktop, right? If so, set the tables that contain old data not to be included in refresh, use UNOIN function in DAX instead of “Append Queries” option to combine data in tables, this way, the refresh time will be reduced. For more details, please review this blog: http://www.thebiccountant.com/2017/01/11/incremental-load-in-powerbi-using-dax-union/ .

However, in Power BI Service, the refresh is a full refresh and not incremental, it is not possible to refresh specific tables in a single dataset. To reduce refresh time in Power BI Service, import required columns and rows to Power BI and optimize data model.

Lydia
