Query regarding dedicated capacity and SharePoint list as data source

Hi Power BI Users,

I'm new to Power BI and have taken a Power BI Pro trail license for better learning. Please help me with the below queries that i have-

1. How can i make a workspace a dedicated capacity? I know that my organization has Permium license taken. So to make a workspace dedicated, is their any additional cost involved or it can be done by any Power BI admin?

2. I need to create a dashboard with a SharePoint list as a data source. I will publish the report as a web part in the SharePoint page. The end users want to see a daily report on the page reflecting the latest data from the list. How will the data in the report be updated? Can this be done dynamically on a day basis since the list data keeps changing. Or do we have to publish a new report to the page daily?

Any inputs appreciated.

Thanks,

Kevin

Hi @Anonymous

1. there is no other way nut with a Permium license.

2.

(1) To make the Power BI in SharePoint web part work and users can see it from Sharepoint, the following is required:

  • (creator and users all need pro license, or contents in a premium capacity)
  • The Power BI web part for SharePoint Online requires Modern Pages.

More detials:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-embed-report-spo

(2) Refresh data from Sharepoint online

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/refresh-desktop-file-onedrive

You need enter credential under Dataset->Setting->Schedule refresh->"Edit credential"

After you configure schedule refresh correctly, it could refresh hourly from the data source(Sharepoint online).
