I was working with a dataset in powerBI that kept timing out when I tried to refresh it in service. The pbi file was only 322 mb, so I was stumped as to what this issue was. It turns out that a sort operation was slowing down my refresh by over 2 hours. What is the exact issue behind this because I havent run into this issue before.
