my data source year column contains hundred of distinct years but when I import it in PowerBI only one year 1905 is seen everywhere
What is the problem
Data type is date
Hi @Kumarun
Do you have year column of number type in your data source? And what is your expected result in Power BI? If you want to have only years in Power BI and keep it as number type too, remove the automatically generated "Changed Type" step and change this column to number type manually.
If your Year column is of other type or format in data source. In Power Query Editor, remove the "Changed Type" step and extract Year part from the Year column and convert it to number type. If you want to change this column to date type, you need to give it month and day values.

After importing, don't apply the date change type on column.
In a custom column, put following formula to convert to date (Replace Year Column appropriately)
If your years are already in number format, you can remove Number. From below
= #date(Number.From([Year Column]),1,1))
