Power query data cleansing

Hi All,

I have a text data of user comments that comes with speacial characters like (like Â, ’) , If I use replace function, it will delete preceding or previous occurrences of the letter A  or  blank out the comment. I tried both the replace formaula and Replace value context menu " replace using specail characters".

Thank you for your help

Chris Webb shows us this:

(inputText as text) as text =>

let

ReplaceDiacritics = Text.FromBinary(Text.ToBinary(inputText, 28597), TextEncoding.Ascii), RemoveQuestionMarks = Text.Replace(ReplaceDiacritics, "?", " "), RemoveExcessSpaces = Text.Combine( List.RemoveItems(Text.Split(Text.Trim(RemoveQuestionMarks), " "), {""}), " " )
