Power Query not showing DateTime Tools

Hello,

I have a question regarding the DateTime Tools in the Power BI Power Query editor. First I created a blank query. Then in the Source step I entered = DateTime.LocalNow() to get the current date as a parameter. When I do this in Excel Power Query I get a new Transform tab with DateTime Tools that allow me to easily convert the parameter to a table or a list. This new Transform tab does not appear in the Power BI Query editor when I enter the Source step. I can't seem to find an option to turn this feature on. Does anyone know if this can be turned on or does it just not exist in Power BI Power Query.

I do have a workaround. I just wrap the = {DateTime.LocalNow()} in curly brackets to generate a list. Then I right click the list to convert the list to a table. This works just fine, but still curious if there is an option in Power BI that just needs to be turned on.

Thanks,

Rob

1 ACCEPTED SOLUTION

Hi Stephen:

I solved the problem. I switched from Dark Mode back to the defult theme and the features came back. It was the the dark mode that caused the issue. Thank you everyone for your input.

You can use this in three way,
using DateTime.LocalNow() will result in a date/time value and then you can use the next window to covnert it to table.

using {DateTime.LocalNow()} will result in a list value and then you can use the next window to covnert it to table.

using [a=DateTime.LocalNow()] will result in an recrod value and then you can use the next window to covnert it to table.

Thank you for sharing the great screenshots. I am missing those excat tools on PBI Power Query. I have them in Power Query for Excel. Im running PBI Version: 2.136.1202.0 64-bit (September 2024) for refernece. I'm thinking I just need to turn this feature on somewhere but cannot locate it in the options / setting.

It works fine for me but I have a different higher-numbered version than you: Version: 2.136.1478.0 64-bit (September 2024).

Maybe try updating your version, or repairing it.

Hi Nate:

Great screen shot. These are the exact tools I'm missing PBI. I have them in PQ for excel.
