Personal Gateway issue

Hi PowerBI,

I have an issue with my personal gateway which by all means seems to be installed correctly. When i refresh the data I get what seems to be "old data" i.e. what the sales on my report would look like if it was done yesterday or the day before maybe? When i publish the report the data is fine, refreshing that published report just doesnt work at all.

Steps i have already taken:

Uninstall and reinstal the gateway

click the gateway and press apply to ensure it is active

The gateway is signed into on my computer and is showing as live and running on my computer

The gateway DOES NOT appear in manage gateways?  But i have read that is to be expected in personal mode?

The datasources used are csv, excel files and salesforce.

My scheduled refreshes work too but nothing seems to be updating?

Any reasons for this?

Hello, I think for Salesforce there's no need to have a gateway. As a workaround, you could connect directly to Salesforce by using an external connector. I've tried windsor.ai, supermetrics and funnel.io. I stayed with windsor because it is much cheaper so just to let you know other options. In case you wonder, to make the connection first search for the Salesforce connector in the data sources list:

After that, just grant access to your Salesforce account using your credentials, then on preview and destination page you will see a preview of your Salesforce fields:

There just select the fields you need. It is also compatible with custom fields and custom objects, so you'll be able to export them through windsor.  Finally, just select PBI as your data destination and finally just copy and paste the url on PBI --> Get Data --> Web --> Paste the url.

@Anonymous,

What changes do you make to the data source, data change or schema change? Could you please post the message in refresh history in Power BI Service?

In addition, please make sure you are using latest version of Power BI personal mode gateway.

Regards,

Lydia
