Hi @John_Jerry
This issue usually happens when Power BI detects unsaved or unapplied changes in Power Query, even though you’ve already loaded and saved the report. It’s often caused by a mismatch between the query editor state and the model state — for example, if a small change was made in Power Query (like renaming a step, modifying a parameter, or even opening a preview) and not fully applied before saving. When your dataset is as large as 4.5 GB and takes 3–4 hours to refresh, this warning becomes especially frustrating because reapplying changes can trigger a full reload. To resolve this, first open Power Query Editor, make sure all queries load correctly, and click Close & Apply even if no changes appear pending. Once it finishes applying, immediately save and close the report. You can also check for hidden or disabled queries, parameters, or preview errors that might be causing Power BI to think a change exists. If the problem persists, try disabling Auto recovery (File > Options > Current File > Data Load) or clearing the Power BI cache to reset the query state. In some cases, this warning can also appear if your query folding or privacy levels have inconsistencies, so ensuring all your queries are from trusted sources and privacy levels are consistent may prevent Power BI from re-triggering the “pending changes” state.
Thanks everyone for your responses!
I was caught up with something else earlier, but I’ll definitely go through all your suggestions and apply them to the query

First i would suggest you take your time to let all data fully load into the Power BI engine before doing any visual work. Otherwise you will get this kind of error whenever you open the pbix file..
so, below is the checklist for you.
1) Check for errors in Power Query. Check, any of the columns are returning error or not.Make sure all applied steps are error free and that column references have not broken due to renamed or removed fields
2) Close and apply all the changes and load the data properly into the engine.
3)if you get any error during loading, please go to power query editor and do debug.
After doing above all checks, you can close the pbix file and reopen that.
Hope this will help you.

Thank you for your solution. I’ll definitely review the steps you mentioned.
I have a doubt once the data load is completed, a pop-up appears showing around 200 errors. Do I need to fix those errors as well?
Most of my work involves daily refreshes where the dashboards are already pre-built. However, even after a successful refresh and publishing, when I open the dashboard again, it still shows the pending changes error
Hi @John_Jerry,
Yes, you would need to fix the errors before Power BI fully loads and caches the data.
You can also turn off the data preview and data refresh during development to make things faster.
If you found this helpful, consider giving some Kudos. If I answered your question or solved your problem, mark this post as the solution.
