More rows in Power Query than Data view

I am losing my mind, I've never seen this happen before.

I made some changes to the API enabled report my dataset is pulling from then refreshed the table in Power Query. The row count updated accordingly. Then I loaded the data, and the row count in data view is reflecting a smaller number, I think it's the same number of rows as before I made the change to the source data filters, but I don't know for sure. Does anyone know what could be happening here?

There are no filters on the table in data view and I am counting rows in PowerQuery after the last transformation step.

Hi @Anonymous ,

First, in Power Query, go to the Home tab and hit Refresh Preview. Check your row counts.

If you don't have a match now then, in Desktop, go to the Home tab and hit refresh. Check your row counts.

Let me know if you still have an issue after this and we can dig a bit deeper.

Hi, I´m facing the same situation, and just refreshing is not helping me out.
The data are from a software and stored in ADLG2. I have this particular column define as a text by the developers, but it is heterogene, since i have digit, non-digit, text, as well as numbers with + or - in front (i.e. +3days). there is an unique code for the different parameters.
I did in a previous steps a copy of the values column and transformed it numeric. then i got "error" in the rows, where i had something else than numbers (digit and non-digit) and replaced the "error" by "null". even though... all parameters are still not visibles in the report view.
Can you please help me out? i´m copletly lost

Hi @beginner_bi ,

Please raise this as a new forum topic.

If your issues are with Power Query, then raise to the Power Query forum. If they're with DAX/Data Model then raise to the Desktop forum.

Make sure to include detailed information about your problem to help others help you. Great info on getting your questions answered quickly here:

Thanks so much! I'm not sure why it didn't occur to me to refresh the dataset.

Easy one to miss.

Everyone laughs at the old "Switch it off and back on again", but it's a meme for a reason! 😂
