Hello,
I'm trying to understand whether loading data from a dataflow into an excel file (on desktop) uses Power BI capacity, and if so whether there is a way to monitor the impact of loading the data.
Essentially, I want to use the power query functionality in excel to load large amounts of data from a power BI dataflow. The steps to load the data to excel would be:
1. Go to "Data"
2. Go to "Get Data"
3. Select "From Power Platform"
4. Select "From Dataflows"
The dataflow will be housed in a Shared Capacity workspace.
I want to confirm that loading data in this way won't negatively impact on my Organisation's Power BI capacity, but cannot find where to monitor the impact.
Thanks!
Hi,
Loading data from a Power BI dataflow into Excel does use Power BI capacity.
To monitor the impact, you can use Power BI's monitoring features or Power Automate to track refresh durations and failure counts.
It's important to manage refreshes effectively to avoid negative impacts on capacity.
