Merge queries in Power Query

hi all,

Newbie here :)-

if I Merge 2 queries, do the 2 column names that I choose (1 from each table) have to be the same? 

Or can they be different - by virtue of me selecting which columns to use in the Wizard?

They can be different so long as the types are compatible.
