Hi,
I am trying to get data from dataset B and C to dataset A based on common variables block and address. I was able to port data from dataset B but had issue with dataset C. The results return are all null. The relationship is the same for both dataset. Would anyone be able to advise?
I have tried to amend the variable type to number once I ported over but the null value still there and is for all the data.
You set all type to number you write. Very good! Matching on text values is very demanding on your data quality.
So that's not it.
Please share some sample data and your M Code, so we can have a look at your troubles...
Screenshots of all files in the UI of power query, showing all types, would suffice I think....
Can you share some of the data tables with us ?
I had issues with this a few times where I had special character in there, you could use trim or something similar.
I understand you are mergin A to B and then the result to C.
Have you try to merge table A to table C, to see if you get results ? or B to C then to A.
You would be able to identify the tables that are causing you issues.
Also, do you have automatic data type enabled or not ? Sometimes PowerQuery will change the dataset to another type then what you want/need and it doesn't show in the preview. I prefer to not have this and just change it myself.
@LalaLee Hi!
Ensure that the block and address columns in both Dataset A and Dataset C are of the same data type (e.g., Text, Number).
Even if the data types are the same, inconsistencies can arise due to leading/trailing spaces or invisible characters, so try to put a Trim on text column, both in table A and Table C.
Let me know.
