Hi,
we are trying to migrate some models from AAS to PowerBi Services.
We have followed microsoft official instructions on how to migrate Here
Migration succeeded, however, we only get the dataset pointing to an XMLA endpoint.
Creating any report on top of it doesn't allow us to edit existing measures or even the transformation steps behind.
Is there any way to get the model exactly as if it was created in PowerBi Desktop, with the actual data sources and PowerQuery steps?
If not, any alternatives?
Thanks
We are running into the same issue, would be great to find a good solution to this.
Microsoft has mentioned that you can't download the dataset .pbix file when you've migrated from AAS using their tool - which makes no sense to me. What's the point if you can't edit it in Power BI Desktop or Service?
Pre-requisite to know:
Migration includes:
Model metadata.
Model data, as of the latest refresh.
Model roles in Azure Analysis Services, such as those used for object-level and row-level security.
Dataset Build permissions are set for members of Read model roles.
Dataset Write permissions are set for members of Administrator model roles.
Regards,
Robin
Your fastest path to success is likely to recreate all measures in Power BI. Remember that Power Query produces (mostly) immutable data, and has no idea what you mean by measures.
