Looking for a way to calculate cumulative sum when the data is in financial year format.

I've been facing an issue when calculating cumulative sum, the issue being the data is in Financial year format and I'd like to visualise the cumulative sum in a month by month or year-wise preferably.

Following is a sample data(unable to display original values due to privacy restrictions) before transformations :

Unpivoted.png

After applying Unpivot along the Months(from April to March) resulting the displayed data as below:

(And few transformations done to bring the Attribute into Month number)

The final visual generated using the data should be in an monthly increase over years, for example :

Knowing that this is a complex issue, I'd appriciate any help to resolve it by showcasing the visual in the desired format.

Hi @ThingZy ,

Please try this measure:

Measure = CALCULATE(SUM('Table'[Value]),'Table'[Month Number]<=MAX('Table'[Month Number])&&'Table'[Finanical_Year]<=MAX('Table'[Finanical_Year]))

The visual you display is deveiving. I look at and think, "WOW, they did $10 million in December of 2021!"

Suggest you plot the actual value for each month, not the running total.

What message are you trying to get accross to your viewers?
