Issue when in Power BI service - Data Privacy

I have two queries...

  1. Query A - uses API to get data from an external source for the previous day. My password is provided in the header of the API call and i receive data fine
  2. Query B - data in Excel stored in my organizational OneDrive. In Power Query I used WebSource. I am signed into my OneDrive and data loads fine

Both of these tables have 3 identical columns and data from query A  appends to the table from query B. Everything works as it should and I can see a "Base Table" (query B) in my report.  I can publish it in the PBI service and I can see it in the service as well.

Problem starts when I want to refresh it in service service keep getting error message about the privacy levels even thought they are both both  set to none.  Any suggestions?

Hi @stribor45

Please try set the QueryB to  organization then refresh it first.

Hi @stribor45

1.Please make sure all the queries  use the same format, you can refer to the following link.

Re: SCHEDULED REFRESH ERROR - Microsoft Fabric Community

2.You can reset the configuration that set 'Always Ignore the Privacy levels and potentially improve performance ' at power query settings. You can refet to the following link.

My privacy is already set as per your screenshot. Also, I looked at that link but I am still confused by "make sure both queries have the same format". Can you please explain

Hi @stribor45

It means that make sure the structure of the queries are the same, you can refer to the link I have offered, if it cannot also work. please check that if your data source of the api need the gateway, if it needs the gateway, please make sure you have configured, you can refer to the following link.

What is an on-premises data gateway? | Microsoft Learn

Install an on-premises data gateway | Microsoft Learn

Add or remove a gateway data source - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

2.After publishing the report to the service, please check the credentials of the data source.

Query A on its own (when I delete query B) which is the one making the API call works fine.

Hi @stribor45

Try the following solution.

Set the Privacy levels to 'Always combine data accroading to ..' at gobal.

Then set the Privacy set to Organizational for both data sources.

I can't set both to organizational account...

Query A makes api call to www.example.com/api which is external vendor and I provide credentials within the power query  code using headers

Query B is excel file sitting in OneDrive which is organizational account
