Importing Data (.xlsx) from within a Folder - Then changing the template by adding a new column.

Hey Everyone!

I have a folder with over 200 files, all of which contain the same table, within the same format. Today I need to include an additional column. Can I do so without having to alter every file within the folder?

I would like to add a new file with the same format (+ 1 additional column) and for Power BI to register that there is a new column and alllow me to manipulate within my model. How can I do this?

Let me know, thanks!

Hi @AlexAlberga727 ,

You can add this new column to the end of the excel sheet.

So you would only check the data type in the Transformation File Sample. If you include it in the start/middle you will need to check the transformations applied.

Thanks for taking your time to reply.

I have checked the transformation files found within Power Query and am unable to locate an area where I could edit the transformation file.

Would you be willing to have a screen share?
