I can't disable personal gateway of a certain dataset

I initially set up a personal gateway thinking (errouneously) that I needed to have one enable to refresh the datasets I was creating.  When I realized that I did not need a personal gatgeway (Salesforce.com data only) I uninstalled the gateway. Now one of my data sources will not refresh because it is set to use the personal gateway.  I tried to disable the gateway to "connect directly" but the option is greyed out.  So the question is: How do I get this datset decoupled from the personal gateway? the dataset was creted in Power BI Desktop.

Now at escalation to product team.

Will post my complete understanding of how it works when resolved.

I found what my problem was. I have set up Personal Gateway very long time ago, which I uninstalled from my server and removed from Power BI Service as I moved the databases to Azure SQL Databases.

 

I had one single table from one of our on-premises SQL databases as I was experimenting with some new visuals. I completely forgot that I still had this table in the data model when I published the reports to Power BI Service. Then, when I installed the gateway again, it tried to use it and refused to disable it because of this one table I forgot to get rid of after my experiments.

 

Make sure that in your data model there are no tables that are actually using/used the personal gateway.

My "symptoms" are that the personal Gateway has been uninstalled (and in the service when i click on Manage Gateway, i am told i have none) , but when i publish from Desktop, the Dataset created in the Service is marked as requiring my (former) Gateway and mentions that it is offline.

I am trying to understand where the Gateway Existence is located and why it has not been set to "none" after removal of the Gateway...

Hope this is not too confusing

@Megachuckmc What led you to believe you didn't need a gateway? I'm not completely familiar with the Salesforce Objects datasources in the Desktop, but if you import that data into the desktop, you need a gateway to refresh the dataset in the Service. There is a SalesForce Content Pack in the PBI Service that would not require a gateway, but they are two different things.
