If I create a custom connector that has a required text argument in the definition (like in this sample), then when I click on "Get Data" and select the connector in power bi desktop a dialog box comes up asking me to input those parameters. These are avaialable in power query as the dataSourcePath argument.
When I save the report as a pbit file, I notice that when I open the file it asks me to input the query parameters again, but not the data source path. I can't even change the data source path from the "Data Source Settings" dialog as I am using OAuth. It's nowhere to be found.
How can I ask the user for the DataSourcePath when opening the pbit file that uses my custom connector? Why isn't this just the same as report paramters?
Hi @Kurren ,
I don't think the problem is with the custom connector, once we reference the parameters in the data source path, then the template file will open and only prompt for the parameter values and not the data source path.
Best Regards,
Winniz
Thanks @v-kkf-msft . I am aware of this behaviour, I just wanted to know how to ask for the data source path again.
