Hello,
Get used to seeing my name - I will be here for a while.
Issue #1
I have a data set that has a 'Reporting Period' column.
In this column the date format reads '31 August 2024'.
I would like to change this to 'August 2024' in Power Query so that when it comes to creating a dashboard in Report View I am able to create a drop down box with 'August 2024, September 2024, October 2024' etc etc.
How do I do that please?

@LT4RFF So, in my opinion, you should control that in Power BI Desktop. If you select the column in Power BI Desktop ( not Power Query Editor ) then you can modify the display format in the Column tools tab of the ribbon:
See this formula
= Date.ToText(Date.From("31 August 2024"),"yyyy MMMM")
Hi,
Thanks for the solution Greg_Deckler offered, and i want to offer some more information for user to refer to.
hello @LT4RFF , you can add a new custom column to format the date.
=Date.ToText([Date], [Format="MMMM yyyy", Culture="de-DE"])
Then you can put the new column to the slicer.
Best Regards!

@LT4RFF Is that column an actual date column or is it a text column?

@Greg_Deckler Thank you that was the easiest way of doing it
@v-xinruzhu-msft & @Omid_Motamedise Thank you - I tried your ways first and got into all sorts of confusing issues. My skills in PBI are minimal.
I'll be back with more questions soon!
