Hello - quick question (hopefully someone knows the answer). I'm relatively 'new' to power bi. what we are trying to do is connect google analytics. I'm able to do so and am able to bring in some measures/dimensions. a few of the visuals that I've created end up matching the reports that are in google analytics, so thats good. My issue is this:
1) one of the google analytics reports has a filter and in that filter it has a REGEX = 'www.gov'. if i remove this filter in GA, the #s add up to what is in power BI. however, when reapplying the GA filter, i then try filtering my power bi data set on page contains 'www.gov', the #s do not add up. is a regex the same as a 'contains' for the example that I am describing? My guess is that the GA page is saying bring me back any pages that have www.gov in the page name.
Hi @vikashkarra,
What did you mean about the "one of the Google analytics reports has a filter and in that filter it has a REGEX = 'www.gov'."? Did you add this filter on the Google Analystics account level filter? Where did you find "the #s add up to what is in power BI"?
When we connect to Google Analytics in desktop, the data is retrieved rely on Google Analytics Core Reporting API. You can see: Third-party service: Google Analytics connector for Power BI Desktop. And in Power BI Service, it's based on Google Analytics content pack for Power BI. Based on my test, whether I add a filter or not, when connect to the Google Analytics in Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service, I do not see the #s.
So in your scenario, would you please share detail steps for us to reproduce the issue?
Best Regards,
