Getting data from SAP

Hello everyoone

I am connecting to SAP (through Odata query) to get data and using this data to build a BOM (Bill of Material).

The app is not working all the time as expected :

  • It does not read the .csv file properly all the time
  • and the main issue is the very long time it takes to update the data.

can you please support.

I am attaching the file and the .csv file

Hi @ibourega,

The CSV issue should be investigated separately by checking its delimiter, encoding, and column structure. For the slow SAP OData refresh, you may also want to evaluate Power BI Connector for SAP: https://www.sap.com/products/data-cloud/partners/metrica-software-inc-power-bi-connector-for-sap.htm...

It lets you select only the required SAP services, entities, and fields and apply SAP-side filters before loading the data into Power BI. This may help reduce the amount of data transferred, although performance will still depend on the underlying SAP OData service and your Power Query transformations.

A 30-day free trial is available, and we would be happy to arrange a demo and review your scenario.

Hi @ibourega ,

// It does not read the .csv file properly all the time ;

Do these csv files have the same delimiter and character set? Try adjusting the File Origin options and the delimiter options.

// and the main issue is the very long time it takes to update the data.

Consider sharing the m-code of the transformation step where the performance problem occurs. It would be a good idea to attach some screenshots so that we can understand it better. Please mask sensitive data before uploading. Thanks.

Best Regards,
Gao
