I have a user who has built several reports from Excel files. They worked well and without issues until a few weeks ago. Now, anytime she tries to connect Power BI to an Excel document, Power BI stops responding. She is able to open the Excel documents without issues. It also doesn't seem to matter if the files are stored locally or on a network share. She is able to connect to our SQL data sources without issues. I, as a domain admin, can log onto her computer and use GetData or Import Excel without issues. I've tested with the same Excel files she is using. I've installed the latest updates for MS Office. I also installed the latest version of Power BI last week to see if that resolved the issue. Now, it seems like it may be a permissions issue, but her permissions in Power BI have not changed. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
@cstanley1543 ,
I would recommend you install process monitor to track the connection the user made in Power BI Desktop, if the issue is related to permission, the process monitor would raise a failure event about permission.
There is a similar blog about using process monitor for your reference.
