Extract word/text string from a cell

Hi,

Im using power query to transform the security logs I have taken from a domain controller to create a report.

Im interested in getting the value of the account name - as shown in the screengrab.

I have tried using custom columns and different kinds of text filters but it always return an error...

I may have missed testing some other functions as I have just started exploring powerbi... would greatly appreciate your help.

Hi @romellm ,

If the values in [Column6] always have the same entries, you can use Text.BetweenDelimiters.

Add a new new custom column something like this:

Text.BetweenDelimiters([Column6], "Account Name:", "Account Domain:")

This should give you your account name in a new column, which you can then Trim/Clean to remove spaces/tabs/CR/LF etc.
