I have a large set of PDF forms with the data stored within each form in defined fields.
When using the new pdf tool it does not allow the defined fields to be extracted and simply shows the printed labels with out any of hte actual responded data ( I think because it is not built to extract data from forms but basically OCR a flat pdf)
Has anyone come across a way to extract the fields as columns wiht the record data as the rows of a table for this type of PDF?
@Anonymous,
Do you use PDF connector in Power BI Desktop? If so, could you please share a sample PDF file so that we can test?
Currently, the PDF connector is still in beta, and some features are not supported in this connector.

Lydia
Lydia,
Hi yes tried the pdf connector ( was excited as thougth it owuld do the job) but it doesnt.
hope that a sample may help the development of this great tool.
all it curently returns is a list of some of the field names but no actual data that has been recorded.
what would be ideal is when it detects the field names bieng used it presents the option of what fields to retrieive as columns and then puts the values from each file into a row of a table
this would then mean you could use very easily within powerbi.
happy to share na example and have included link

many thanks for considering.
