Disapointendin Hybrid dataset and Modelling
Hello,
I'm quite disapointed in the PBI Streaming Dataset with Historical Data. It's possibilities are superb, but the lack of any modelling makes it quite unusable. For example it hou have a datetime field, no way to determine a hierarchy. It doesn't build one itself, but even if we would create it in de dataset, no way to define a hierarchy.
Surely on streaming datasets it would be handy to have some logic as for example yesterdat, since-last week. All quite good possible with some calculated columns ...
I understand that with live connection you have to respect the source logic, but here the source is a native PowerBI Source, so at least some options could have been added.
I hope that I'm completely wrong with my conclusing and that there are options, would be very glad to hear them.

Hi @Anonymous
Currently, Real-time streaming data doesn't support modeling data in Power BI Service.
When connecting to a Power BI Service Dataset with Power BI Desktop, it is live connection which have many limits in modeling.

I know the limitations, we always use or live Azure-DWH of Azure-AAS, but as the Datasat is a PowerBI dataset there should at least be some small modeling option on server side then.
My point is, wonderfull technique, but missing some maturity to my point of view.

Hi
What you are seeking for should be concerned though there is no such features in Power BI currently.
You could submit an idea here to make it possible in future.
In addition, when creating a dataflow to use our datasource, we can use Power Query online to transform and shape data.

For example a way to build an hierarchy, a small calculated column.
I know, you can create it from the source out.
But that means that all our apps that are sending towards this dataset must be modified each time whenever a extra field is needed.
I know the idea site, but lets be honest, before you get some scores that the idea can be considered ....
And as nobody ever expressed his extra needs on this it seems that it's not that important to others.
