Date format in DAX Matrix

I'm trying to format date format from ex: Thursday, April 9, 2020 TO 4/9/2020 from within the Matrix view but it is still depicting the date in the matrix as Year|Qtr|Month|Day. Just to note that I went into Modeling and change Date Type:Date m/d/yyyy format and it changed the data in the fields. However, once as I switch to DAX Matrix, it is still reflecting the date format Year,Qtr,Month,Day. I've been searching how to do this but all results are pointing to change it in Modeling, which I have already done. Shouldn't the Matrix incorporate my selected date format??

In the fields area, click the drop down arrow and switch from hierarchy to just the date.

Yeah, it annoys me that it defaults to hierarchy!! I find myself having to change it more often than not!
