Data sent through API merge to database

I have data coming in through an API.  When I run the API, the data from that day is populated, overwriting the previous days data.  However, I am looking to build a database from this daily API data.  Instead of the API overwriting the previous days data, I would like to copy-paste that to a main database or simply add the new data instead of overwriting it.  So it basically adds that days data when I run the API.

Could someone help me figure this out?

Hi @BCreamer1 ,

To achieve this in Power BI, you’ll need to adjust your data import process so that it appends new data instead of overwriting the existing data. Here are the steps you can follow:

  • Instead of directly importing data into Power BI, you can store the data in a database like Azure SQL Database or any other SQL database.
  • Set up a scheduled job to run the API and insert the new data into the database.
  • Connect data from the database to Power BI.
  • Use the “Append Queries” feature in Power Query to combine the new data with the existing data.
